Out with the Old and In with the New

walking-trail2016 is almost behind us and we are looking at a brand new year just over the horizon.  It is fun to look back on the highlights of the year and remember the good times and maybe the not-so-good times that all contributed to your life story. For me, the highlight of 2016 was starting this blog/website in pursuit of doing something different and hopefully special with my life.  Learning new skills and putting old ones to work has been a rewarding experience so far. It was a leap of faith as I left my job at the hospital and began working for myself. With only a couple of consulting jobs lined up, I knew that I would need to get busy and creative to fill the financial gap. But I soon realized that making money is not nearly as important as doing something you truly enjoy. The thing that gives a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment to life is worth pursuing even if you must sacrifice something along the way.

To be honest, I had no idea what direction I wanted to take with this blog and I still find myself struggling to define my focus, goals and mission. Is this a food blog, a nutrition blog, a gardening blog or a healthy living blog? Well, maybe it will become a little bit of each but for now I am enjoying the trip. I hope you will join me as we discover new recipes, uncover the contribution of nutrition to health and learn to grow some of our own food. My goals for 2017 include regular blog posts (at least twice a week), new videos weekly here and on my YouTube channel, regular updates on social media pages and more helpful nutritional information. 2017 looks promising with so many opportunities out there for those who just believe and are willing to give the effort. Let’s make 2017 the best year yet as we dream big!
